Odetha Whitted

Odetha “Dess” DeHart Whitted was born September 3, 1944 to loving parents, James and Odetha DeHart in Bryson City, NC. She passed away on Saturday, May 17, 2025. Odetha was a graduate of Charles M. Hall High School Class of 1963. She was a member of St. Peter Primitive Baptist Church. She loved spending time with close family and friends.

She was preceded in death by parents, James and Odetha DeHart; husband Lonnie Whitted; sisters, Betty DeHart Johnson, Dorothy DeHart Walker, and Shirley DeHart Gaines; brothers, James “Bill” DeHart, Wayne DeHart, Earl DeHart, and Paul “Mitchel” DeHart.

She leaves to cherish her memories loving daughter, Bridgette (Doyle) Toney; devoted granddaughter, Teshawna Whitted; sister, Peggy (Jack) Young, Mattie DeHart, Florence DeHart; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday May 28, 2025 at Foothills Funeral Home from 12:30 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. with funeral service to follow. Interment will follow service at Sherwood Gardens. Rev. Leander Blackmon officiating. www.foothillsfh.com
