Odessa R. Carr (94) born July 15, 1930 in Warrior, AL to Emma Brantley and Thomas Moore. The beloved spouse of the late Jack W. Carr for 63 years of wedded bliss. During this union 5 children were born.
She was preceded in death by her loving family members, mother Emma L. Brantley, spouse Jack W. Carr, grandson Antonio Donte’ and great-granddaughter Nikita Monique.
A faithful member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church for 78 years where she served as a Deaconess until her failing health.
Odessa was employed as an operating room scrub tech at U.T. Hospital for over 45 years where she enjoyed special relationships with several co-workers there as well as Wal-mart and Fair Park Healthcare.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory, daughters Rev. Gwyndolyn Minor, Hampton, VA., Jackie Corpening, Knoxville, and Vanessa of Maryville, sons Willard Maryville, Anthony, Louisville. 12 grandchildren, 14 great grands, and 4 great, great grands, adoptive daughter Nikki Williams, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, sister and brother-in-laws, Shirley Clowney, New Jersey, Thelam Carr, Patricia (John) Watkins, Chatt. Devoted neighbors, Steve and Brenda Linginfelter, Mary and Richard Gadge and a host of other family and friends.
Family will receive friends on Saturday May 10, 2025 at St. John Missionary Baptist Church, Alcoa from noon-1:00 PM with Celebration of Life to follow. Entombment will follow service at Sherwood Gardens, Alcoa. The body may be viewed on Friday from noon-6:00 PM at Foothills Funeral Home, Maryville. www.foothillsfh.com
