Nick Lee O’Neal
Sometimes I fall on my knees and pray, come Jesus come, let today be the day. And low and behold on Sunday, February 1, 2026, God dispatched his angel to take Nick O’Neal home. He fought the good fight, finish the course and kept the faith. Now he has been lifted up to receive his reward. Even as his health failed, he kept a positive outlook for those around him while strengthening them for the days ahead.
Nick Lee O’Neal was born April 4, 1944, to the late Irene O’Neal Law and Thomas Mack of Union Hall, Virginia. He departed this life in the month of love; peacefully on February 1, 2026.
Nick, the adventurous type, found his journey to New York, where he met his wife Enza Tate O’Neal. To their union was born Ricky, Melissa, and Gregory O’Neal.
Nick lived a good life and was loved by many. He did not mind giving advice whether you wanted it or not, and his character was being straight up with you. He never met a stranger and always had jokes. His love showed through the tough exterior he often portrayed. Nick loved the outdoors and his green thumb was envied by many.
Nick wore many hats with the youth of his family, Dad, Papa, Papa Nick, “Unc” and “OG.” These hats signify the strength in his being and the love he gave unselfishly.
Nick was preceded in death by his son Antonio Killebrew of Kentucky.
Nick leaves to cherish his memory, his love and faithful wife; Enza Tate O’Neal; sister, Teresa Mack of Virginia; children, Ricky O’Neal, Melissa O’Neal Henry, Gregory, O’Neal; grandchildren, Desiree O’Neal, Arieyelle O’Neal, Brittany Jackson, Danielle Henry and Jaylin Henry; great grandchildren, Randon Floyd, Jamont Williams and DeShawn, O’Neal; sister-in-laws Stella Smith, Dorothy Love, Wanda Tolley and Patricia Tate; brother-in-law, Richard Tate Jr; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends in Kentucky and Virginia. The family will receive friends on Saturday February 14, 2026 from 12:00 – 12:30 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant AME Zion Church, Rockford. Interment will follow service at Mt. Pleasant AME Zion Church Cemetery.
