Monte E. Welker

Monte E. Welker, 91, of Maryville, TN, passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2026 at his home. He was born on November 2, 1934 in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of Willard Welker and Teresa Amrine Welker Smith of Vermont, Il. He is preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister, Nancy Sue Welker and daughter, Cynthia Carol Welker.Monte is survived by his wife, Janice Welker of Maryville, TN and daughter, Julie Lynn Welker of Knoxville, TN.After graduating high school, Monte attended Western in Macomb, Il before serving in the submarine service of the navy in the Koren War. He then attended the University of Iowa and became a hospital administrator. He loved to build health care facilities and enjoyed a good game of pool or poker. He authored two books and was an avid fan of John Wayne movies and the Game Show Network. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Vermont Il.Cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of life will be held at 3 pm on 25, 2026 at Maryville Seventh-day Adventist Church, Maryville, TN.
