Mary Ferguson

January 3, 1954 — February 11, 2024

On Sunday, February 11, 2024, God saw a need for one more fight in the life of Mary “Chubby” Ferguson. He sent an angel to lead her home for an eternal life.

Mary was born to James and Shirley Henry on January 3, 1954. She graduated from Alcoa High in 1972. She love playing softball and was employed by Levi Strauss for many years. She was a selflessly devoted mother and grandmother who loved the Lord fiercely. She spent a lot of time with her family and to know her was to love her.

She received God at an early age at Robinson Chapel Presbyterian Church. She was a faithful member where she served on the usher board, superintendent of Sunday School and teacher, Youth Fellowship director, choir director, church secretary, church delegate for the Presbytery, kitchen committee and deaconess. She was very devoted to her church and loved her church family.

She is preceded in death by her parents James and Shirley Henry; sister, Dana Jo Evans; niece, Donita Simmons; nephew, Chance Knighton and great nephew, Derrick Evans.

She is survived by daughters, (adopted daughter) Yolanda (Travis) Woods and Jennifer Henry; son, Eric Peacock and LaRon Ferguson; grandchildren, Joshua Henry, Brenden Rudd, Toya Henry, Jordan (Aliviya) Ferguson, Rachelle Peacock, Lauron Ferguson, Alana Peacock, Layla Peacock; 8 great-grandchildren; sisters, Phyllis Hardin, Loyce (David) Mayes, Judith Knighton; foster sister, Doris Bowans; aunts, Joyce Tate, Katheline Tate, Carol Henry; special nieces, Kendra Evans, Sony Knox, Joy Hardin, Ina Mayes, Dynasty Knighton; nephew, Iven Mayes. She is also survived by a host of great nieces, nephew and cousins. Devoted cousins, Karla George Davis, Kim Marble, Wilma Jean Tate Asbury, Rosalyn Henry Littles; devoted friends, Jimmy (Peanut) Ferguson; devoted neighbors, Jimmy (Pickle) and Shari McRae.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at Robinson Chapel Presbyterian Church, Alcoa from noon - to 1 p.m. funeral service to follow. The body may be viewed on Friday, February 16, 2024, at Foothills Funeral Home from noon - 6 p.m.
