Latonya Yost

LaTonya “Tonya” Dewan Yost Porter, age 52 of Alcoa, Tennessee entered into eternal rest on September 15, 2025 at home in Chattanooga, TN. She was preceded in death by her father James Porter, brother James “JJ” Porter, sister Treanna Porter.

LaTonya accepted Christ at an early age, and enjoyed singing in the choir, she was raised as a member St. Paul A.M.E Episcopal Church, Alcoa and later became a member of Allen Temple Church in Chattanooga, TN. LaTonya graduated high school, attended college and continued on working hard through and during her journey being a nursing assistant and becoming a heart monitor tech. She devoted years taking care of people with special needs and working as a health care assistant in nursing homes. She loved doing for others, even when she couldn’t do it herself. LaTonya cared for her loved ones and those surrounding, while being a devoted mother to her three children and three grandchildren. You could always count on her to brighten up any room she entered. Whether if you were a stranger to her or a loved one her heart was always open.

Though the world changes from year to year, our lives from day to day, the love and memory of you shall never pass away.

LaTonya will be missed by everyone who knew her. She leaves love and memories to cherish, mother Nancy Cannida (Harris), step father Lee Harris, children Xavier Yost, Chanel Mobley, N’co McKever and grandchildren Trevante Gant, Xavier Yost Jr., Zionne Yost, sisters Loretta Mitchell, Taquasha “Tiki” Dunn, Natalie “Nat” Bradley, Neicy Porter, Pam Porter, Sharon “Mimi” Porter, brother Thomas (TJ) Bishop Jr., Tim Porter, daughter in law Shanice Gant, beloved friends and classmates from Alcoa High School Class of 1991.

Rev. 21:4 “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

Family will receive friends on Saturday September 27, 2025 at Foothills Funeral Home, Maryville from 2:00 – 2:45 p.m. with service to follow.
