It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Rev. Larry Arthur Shearer, who departed this life peacefully on May 23, 2025 at the age of 77, in his loving wife’s embrace.
Born in Richmond, Kentucky, to Lawrence Shearer and Lillian Denny Shearer March 17,1948. Larry lived a life marked by kindness, integrity, and quiet strength. He was known for his generous spirit, sharp wit, and unwavering loyalty to his family and friends. Larry approached life with a steady calm, offering wisdom, humor, and a helping hand to anyone in need.
Throughout his life, Larry found joy in hunting, fishing, raising beagles, and helping those in need. He touched the lives of many through his work and community involvement. His love and dedication to his family were evident in everything he did. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend whose presence brought comfort and strength to those around him.
Larry accepted Christ at a young age. Later, Larry was ordained as a deacon at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church of Alcoa. Larry eventually answered his call to the ministry to preach the word of God.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence Shearer and Lillian Denny Shearer and grandsons Derrick and Brandon Knaur. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Denise Bradley Shearer, daughters Latritia, Sheila, Marissa, Andrea, and Kayla Shearer, sisters Alphine Shearer Chenault, Deborah Shearer, and brother Kevin Shearer and a host of grandchildren, niece Tonya Edwards and nephew Charles along with many family and friends.
Larry leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and quiet resilience. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
The family will receive friends from noon – 1:00 p.m. with afuneral service to honor Larry's life to follow on Friday, May 30, 2025, at Rest Haven Baptist Church in Alcoa, Tennessee. The body may be viewed on Thursday from noon – 6:00 p.m. at Foothills Funeral Home.
