Geraldine Haley

Geraldine Louise “Gerry” Dobson Haley, 78 made her transition and joined her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 13, 2026. Mrs. Haley was born April 30, 1948 to the late Louis and Pearl Dobson, Jr. She graduated salutatorian from Charles M. Hall High School in Alcoa, Class of 1966 and attended Wilberforce University, Wilberforce, Ohio.

She was employed by Knoxville College, The University of Tennessee Medical Center, and the Tennessee Valley Authority where she retired as Administrative Assistant of Counsels Offices after being employed for 29 years.

Mrs. Haley was a former member of St. Pau A.M.E Church, Alcoa and the united with Mother Love Baptist Church in 1996 and served in several capacities including planning committee, usher board, trustee and deaconess.

She is preceded in death by parents; Louis and Pearl Dobson Jr., beloved husband of 41 years Robert Lee Haley, and sister Sherri Lavada Dobson Haley.

Gerry is survived by her devoted daughter Taunita Dobson and cherished granddaughter Ricera Dobson, Alcoa, stepdaughter Alycia (Leonard) Glenn Murfreesboro, stepson Derrick (Donna) Haley Nashville, brother Muhammad (Aminah) Abdullah Ohio, granddaughter Kaniyah (Shaquin) Williams Murfreesboro, grandson Dranoel “Dra” Glenn Murfreesboro, two great-grandchildren devoted nieces Kranaun “Shaye” (Tamir) Greenlee Alcoa, and Jamila “Mila” Haley Alcoa, nephews Ryan Adams Atlanta, Hamadi “Gyasi” Haley Alcoa. True devoted friends to the family, Kevin Adkins, and Shari and Jimmie McRae.

A celebration of Mrs. Haley’s life will be held on July 25, 2026 at Mother Love Baptist Church, Louisville. Receiving of friends 12:00 – 1:00 PM with funeral service to follow. Interment will follow service at Sherwood Gardens, Alcoa. The body may be viewed on Friday at foothills Funeral Home, Maryville from noon – 6:00 PM.
