Life is a balance of holding on and letting go, and on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, Annie Jean Swain Wright transitioned peacefully into an eternal rest while in Nashville, Tennessee, at the age of 67. Known affectionately as “Ann,” she was born on August 21, 1958, in Brooks County, Georgia, to the late Arthur, Sr. and Marie Swain.
During her early years, Ann was nurtured and raised at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Pavo, Georgia, where she was baptized and actively participated in church life until her marriage to her high school sweetheart, Larry D. Wright, Sr., on July 22, 1976. As adults, Larry’s military service took them to various locations in the United States and abroad. Wherever they lived, Ann’s strong spiritual foundation led her to unite with a body of Christ. She faithfully embraced the charge found in Psalm 122:1: “Let us go into the house of the Lord.” In 2000, Ann and Larry relocated to Knoxville, Tennessee, where they joined Mount Olive Baptist Church. As a faithful member for over 20 years, Ann worked with the Finance Department, serving the Lord with gladness, living out her faith through consistent acts of service, love, and genuine care for others.
Ann’s legacy of life continues through her devoted husband of 49 years, Larry Wright, Sr.; four loving children: Larry D. Coleman of Knoxville, TN; Jasmine (Terrance) Quattlebaum of Nashville, TN; Larry D. Wright, II of Nashville, TN; and Michael (Arielle) Wright of Columbia, SC; eight grandchildren: Khalid and William Coleman, Kennedy Anne and Karter Marie Quattlebaum, Xavier and Jaylah Wright, Analiese and Sebastian Wright; three sisters: Elaine Cage, Mary (Edward, Sr.) Morrow all of Atlanta, GA; Catherine Swain of Thomasville, GA; one brother, Freddie (Phecifinese) Swain, Sr. of Albany, GA; five sisters-in-laws: Anjalonette V. (Merle) Wright of Jacksonville, FL; and lifetime friends of 40 plus years, Carolyn Pitts of Columbia, SC and Louisa (Joe) Randle of LaVergne, TN.
Sharing in the celebration of her loving legacy are many cherished nieces, nephews, Godchildren, cousins, church members, close friends, neighbors, co-workers, and the illustrious Sorors of the Xi Iota Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
